Mushroom Steamed Buns.

Prep time: 30 minutes.
Cook time: 20 minutes.
Total time: 50 minutes.
I saw many recipes of steamed buns out there. They all use yeast and it takes long time for the dough to rise. In this recipe, I will show you how to make steamed buns very easily and fast. Also, you don't need a steamer or a steamer basket for this recipe. I will also show you a trick to steam your food without them.

  • Buns' Recipe:
    • Ingredients:

      • 3 cups of flours.
      • 2 tablespoons baking powder.
      • 4 tablespoons sugar.
      • 1/2 and 1/3 cups almond milk/water.
      • 2 tablespoons sesame oil.


    • Instruction:

      • Combine dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar) in a bow.
      • Add milk and sesame oil.
      • Knead till they all combine.
      • Cover with plastic wrap and set aside.

  • Filling Recipe:
    • Ingredients:

      • 10 mushrooms (I use baby Bella mushroom but you can use shiitake mushrooms as well).
      • 1 cup of bean thread noodle
      • 1 carrot.
      • Half an onion.
      • 2 scallions.
      • 4 tablespoons soy sauce.
      • 2 tablespoon of sugar.
      • 1 tablespoon of mirin.
      • 2 gloves of garlic.
      • Salt and pepper.

    • Instruction:
      • Boil the noodles.
      • Chop onion, carrot, mushrooms into small pieces.

      • Mince garlic.
      • Put everything in a bowl except scallion (in a separated bowl).
    • Add soy sauce, sugar, mirin, salt and peper.

       
      • Stir fry on high heat for 3 minutes.
      • Put in a bowl with scallion. Combine everything together.

    • Instruction how to make the buns:

      • Divide the dough into 10 small doughs.
      • Flatten the dough into a circle.
      • Add a tablespoon of filling into the dough.
      • Pull and pinch the dough to seal.
      • Prepare for the DIY steamer:
        • Make 3 small balls of foil paper. Put them in a big pot.
        • Put a plate on it. 
        • Pour water under the plate.
        • Turn the heat on medium.
        • Cover with a lid.
        • Cook for 20 minutes.


    Voila!!!!
